Stone Oak Christian Academy (SOCA) is a private cohort for grades 9-12 that seeks to provide students the flexibility of home school while in a structured classroom environment. SOCA was established in 2015 under Buckner Fanning Christian School. In 2018 the high school changed its name to Stone Oak Christian Academy when it became its own entity.
Stone Oak Christian Academy utilizes a rigorous computer-based curriculum, Switched On Schoolhouse by Alpha Omega Academy. Elective classes are available both virtually and in person. SOCA enriches teaching by offering a wide variety of educational methods to include project-based learning, differentiated instruction, guest speakers, field trips, additional online classes and tutors.
Grades are determined by corrected work, oral reports, projects, daily work, participation, tests, and quizzes.
SOCA’s learning platform fosters each students unique learning style while in a in a small, faith-based, positive and safe classroom environment. Students are given an individualized education plan, paced accordingly to their distinct learning needs. Stone Oak Christian Academy believes working independently leads to student accountability, achievement, and overall results in students being well prepared for college. It focuses on growth of the whole child through weekly bible lessons and giving back the community. A custom schedule empowers development outside of the classroom for students to focus on extracurricular activities, start the workforce, and advance their education through career internships.
Stone Oak Christian Academy follows Texas Education Agency (TEA) high school graduation requirements. All students graduate at TEA’s distinguished achievement level earning a minimum of 27 credits. Due to SOCA's small class size, class rank is not applicable.
Over the past 4 years, SOCA has had 6 senior students who all graduated and were accepted into their school of choice. Those who graduated from Stone Oak Christian Academy (formally known as Buckner Fanning High School) attended the following colleges:
Mary Harden Baylor
San Antonio College
SOCA strongly believes in giving back to the community. In 2017 their school applied for a grant through the Silver and Black Give back foundation and over the course of 3 years, the high school class was granted a total of $18,000 to include winning an MVP award. Students used 100% of these proceeds to give back to the VA Fisher House. The Fisher House is a home away from home for the families of military undergoing severe medical treatments.
